Aristotelian Thoughts on Immortality
Scholastic aristotelianism says there is this kind of three teared soul, which is to be understood as a kind of form that inheres in the matter of the body. That idea is incredibly influential but also rather problematic for christian phenomena or philosophers who want to rescue and think it's terribly important to have the immortality of the soul. But descartes found it a problem because he thought that the metaphysics of aristotle was absolutely unintelligible.
