The Legend of Anteia
Plutarch describes the Fortunate Isles as just a few days west from the Iberian Peninsula. Anteia showed up on lots of maps throughout the 15th century, but its story was quite different. Christopher Columbus thought it would be a good place to stop off for supplies before continuing his journey to the Indies. A Flemish sailor lent some explanation for why neither Columbus, his son, nor anyone else had been able to locate the island of the Seven Cities.
