LZ Granderson: As a historian and as an immigrant, I'll start with a story. When I graduated during our doctoral commencement, right, from Northwestern, the event started the same way all such events begin with a national path. And there was a floating camera. LZ: Somebody had a camera on their shoulder who would take the view of the crowd and all that. He says he saw half his class are immigrants and have no idea what to say next. "I don't know why. I'm an immigrant. I don't know the words to the national anthem"
