The Five Types of Sacrifices

A fourth type of sacrifice was that which had toned for trespassing against sacred objects, or breaking faith with one's fellow man. In this guilt offering, the offender was commanded to offer a ram. The fat was burnt and went straight to God while the rest of the meat was taken by the priests. Shalomim is the slaughter meal of shalom or sacred gift of greeting. Older English translations called it the peace offering or offering of well-being. It was a voluntary act of joy and thanksgiving.
