The Fairy Queen is an epic poem written by Edmund Spenser. The first three parts were published in 1590, the same year that the North Berwick Witch Trials began in Scotland. It's set in a land of monsters, witches, wizards and fairies to reflect the Elizabethan fascination with supernatural creatures.
