Is It Possible to Really Dismiss Teleology?

On the issue of teleology. There's an aristotelian idea that basically everyone has a telos at which their name, they're aiming. That's kind of how ethics begins. A politics is teleological because it aims at the collective good. Is it possible to really dispense with teleology? I think progressives get tired of liberalism because it does, it allows for too much escape. But ultimately, i think if we're looking at social organization, and what we're talking about is achieving more people participating in it in a full way, but not necessarily dictating what the end is...i actually think that's a pretty good pitch to people.
