Most nutrition research is not done in labs with a control group that gets one type of food while an experimental group gets another. That kind of rigorous research is expensive and hard to conduct. Most nutrition research is therefore done by asking groups of people about their eating habits. The researchers will divide the participants into categories based on how much of a given food or nutrient they consume.
