Abbot Turold wore the costume of a monk, he was much more suited to life as a knight. He loved that lifestyle so much that William had actually installed him at Peterborough because he wanted to give Turold someone worth fighting. Over the course of his tenure, Turold has recorded seizing ecclesiastical lands and establishing an order of knights maintained by the Abbey. But here's the part of the story that I didn't tell you yet. As aggressive as that move was, there may actually have been a logical reason for it.
