Modular Nuclear Reactors - What's the Sales Pitch?

There's as many as about 70 different designs floating around for modular nuclear reactors that use various different technologies to improve on the old light water reactors that were built back in the 1970s. These things will be built in a factory they're designed to have a 10 year service interval so it's built and fueled in a factory shipped to where it's going to be used then 10 years later the replacement reactor is shipped put into service in that same spot. If you're selling your reactors to the US military they're exempt from NRC oversight. They have their own military regulation or oversight over all things nuclear.
