The Collinwood School Fire

Lakeview High School in Collin, Widdohio was destroyed by a fire that killed over 170 students and one first responder. The cause of the blaze remains unclear but many believe it originated from the school's heating systems or boilers. A coroner's inquest concluded that no one could be held legally accountable for what caused the building to catch alight. Many parents were suspicious of how quickly the inquest was carried out and violently objected to its refusal to hold the school board, the architects, or anyone else responsible. After crews tore down the ruins of the school, disputes over the use of the land flared up.
