In Kiev, during the Maidan protests, old Soviet veterans of the fighting in Afghanistan helped stiffen the backs of scared young protesters facing off against riot police. American veterans are significantly more politically active than the average citizen, 6% more likely to vote. Because of their experience working as part of a large, organized hole, and because of their specialized skills, veterans make fantastic activists. They also make fantastic terrorists, insurgents, and freedom fighters.
