The Story of Alyssa's Story
In Roberta, Alyssa grew up on a grandparent farm in the 1940s. She had to go through three pastures, pass a dark, grove of pines and hurry about those woods. There were no shelters between school and home; she would just be terrified. The good thing about going to a one-room school was that the teacher could let us go home early if she wanted to. We are speaking our truths today.
