"12 years of slave" is a story about a guy who was a free man and then he threw some unfortunate circumstances, gets sold back into slavery. The filmmakers are now creating this really, really engaging, well, engagement by simply withholding the answer to that result. And as you see, there is so much implied meaning, so much interpretation, so many really interesting ideas just because of a single cut. It's a cut that has stuck with me for a very long time.
