How Do I Get Through to Atheists?

I have trouble explaining the validity of anything non physical to atheists or those leaving religion. They seem to be hung up on physical evidence and throw out what they call anecdotes or pseudo evidence. How do i get through to people who refuse to even look into what they consider real? I think that people will come to their own conclusions when they're ready. But if you wish to make people realize that it's real, i mean, you're going to have a lot of skill,. Because there is a densening process, if you like. In dowism, they call it being like a useless tree. No one will cut you down, i dare.
