The History of the White Horse

Hill forts in prehistory have a lot of significance they are connected to this kind of history of gathering and creating sort of a place to go in the landscape. The white horse has been preserved for over three thousand years we know there's other chalk figurines that have disappeared so why did people preserve this even though they didn't create themselves? There's something really special and magical about that that is something people just preserved because they liked it and maybe made it part of their own mythology.
