Transgender Woman - Steve Hayes

William Petite tried to end his own life after the attack. He was unsuccessful, and has since been placed on an almost permanent watch by the state correctional institution he currently resides at. Steve Hayes, on the other hand, declared himself to be a transgender woman on October of 2019. He is currently undergoing hormone therapy as part of this transition into a woman and has been strongly suggested by correctional staff that he will seek to be transferred to a female facility once that transition has been completed. It's clear that while one man sought to end his self-inflicted death, the other wishes to begin a new one.
