There's nothing in my account that says a computer could never become conscious. Complexity is always observer-relative. If we gave you a disassembly of Google Translate and had you implement the Chinese Room Experiment, either it would take you thousands of years to run all the assembly instructions on pen and paper or else you'd end up decompiling it into English.
