I feel like there is a certain degree of um protection of established social structures in Japan. It isn't something that is discussed with the sort of feverish intensity That you find in the west. I don't want to underplay that at all. The Polanyi style critique of capitalism, uh, I feel like has a lot of purchase here and even as there has been a neoliberal economic reforms it's still not among the best in the world. Even though Japan is a is very much a country that is sort of ruled by conservativesuh There and and the welfare state is really better than in the united states,. but it's certainly not among thebest in theworld.
