The Dangers of Authoritarianism in China
There is a danger. There really is a danger, but we have to think through what that danger is and how to deal with it. But the reality is that China is in trouble. They're basically going through a crisis in the real estate market that has been going on for a few years now. A slowed economic growth significantly diverted resources away from growth. The next crisis that is already happening is local government debt. In China for many, many years, encouraged local and provincial governments to achieve their GDP target. This is by the government just spending money.
