Lenin's Revolution in Petrograd
In early July, while he's away, further protests in Petrograd snowball into full-scale riots. By July 3, soldiers sympathetic to the Bolshevik cause have seized control of much of the city. As street battles rage, 300 soldiers and civilians are killed. Lenin ends his holiday early to rush back to Bolshevik HQ. He bellows that they should all be thrashed. The curtain must come down on the era of mass protest, says Lenin.
