Ibn Batuta and the Sultan of Delhi

Ibn Batuta's salary would be paid for from the revenues of two and a half villages, which were located about 16 miles north of Delhi. With no duties yet, Ibn Batuta wrote out and inspected his villages but in reality, he did not have any sort of responsibility or hand in running these places. He was given more villages to draw upon for a salary that now amounted to 12,000 silver dinars a year.
