The Role of Semi-Circular Canals in Hearing Loss

Hearing loss that's related to fetal alcohol effects or alcohol-related neurodevelopmental disorder is going to have a higher risk of hearing loss. The semi-circular canals that form the basis of the vestibular system are also located in the inner ear. So if there's some pathology that affects the inner ear, it could also affect the semi- Circular canals. We do know that there's also certain forms of hearing loss that can be involved with vestibular aqueduct abnormalities.
