I tend to be of the perspective that technology is agnostic. What matters is how it is applied, under which philosophies and regulatory regimes. If one central company gains control of this they will become more powerful than any government and be a god on earth. That doesn't sound like an attractive outcome, no? And what we're really talking about here is control, so to speak, of the virtual atoms of our parallel existence.
