Playing Theatre of the Mind, Flanking Is an Optional Rule
If you remove flanking from the game, you can do everything to get a sneak attack that a row can do in theatre of the mind. Is there someone standing next to your target? Yes, you can sneak attack. Are you hidden? yes, you can sneaking attack. If all those things can very easily with one dye roll, or even one roll, use your bonus action, you automatically will get sneak attack on your next attack. And then the narrative comes to the fore. Rather than moving, counting out your squares 37 times to make sure you're getting there, in six loods instead of seven. Ah, there. They've got some incredible game designers at vizards
