The communist regime was relentless in pursuit of dissidents. They did not need to have any evidence. Show trials were publicly prosecuted. There are still so many citizens missing from socialist times and they never thought they would ever have found at the time. To this day, polls are searching for the graves of their World War II heroes who disappeared or were outright murdered by the communists upon their return from war.
