Quantity, the Multitude, the Mass Spirit

The Frankfurt school was influenced by Auschwitz and the Holocaust as a sort of, you know, here's industrial capitalism taken to a logical conclusion. We can have mass assembly car lines, but the same technology can produce mass, terror and death. And so there's a sense in which I think the next stage of technological development will be unwinding certain features of the mid 20th, mid 20th century high modernism.
