What Is the Energy Conservation in an Expanding Universe?
Energy is not conserved in an expanding universe such as ours. The energy that is lost by light as it shifts its frequency to the red simply disappears. So the idea that energy can't be created or destroyed doesn't actually seem to reply to our universe on its biggest scales.
