Is Ed Begley a Cranky Old Man?

i think he was often typecast that way. I haven't seen all of his move but like, for example, in 12 angry men, he plays like the worst juror. He's like nasty old guy who they eventually win over in the end. But yes, something about it does work in this movie, like you're saying.
