The name initially in planning stages was actually Hamablanca, usually written in with English characters as one word. That is literally translates to white beach in Japanese. Akiman, the character designer, was eventually asked. He doesn't remember specifically if that's where Blanca's name came from, but he remembers Hamablanca existing. There's no way that name Hamablanca came from a vacuum.
