What's the Difference Between a Plea and a Penalty?
Most of the people to date, prior to he cuanon cham and ama, pled to misdemeanors. There's a decent chance that some of those will go to trial. The government files multiple charges. Those charges have a range of of sentences. And that's a lot of leverage to put on somebody, especially someone who might not have the resources to defend themselves.
