The Daily Light Integral
The daily light integral is a step above just measuring the instantaneous light per second. People over worry about quality, we should be all thinking more about the quantity of the lights that get and less about the ratios of colors. The best analogy is like a rain gauge: You want to know how much it rained in that day; you look at the total tor the day. A spectral radiometer divides up the colors of light and measures em all separately.
