The Cauldron: A Technology Model for the Cosmos
In Norse mythology, Hymer is a giant and the father of two Asa gods. According to Carol Rose, he had a brewing pot or cauldron so large that the heavens could fit inside it. When you go higher and higher into the atmosphere, the boiling point of water goes down. You can boil potatoes at the top of a mountain for a long time, take them out, and they're still raw.
