The Supreme Court's Ruling on DABS Has Created a Public Health Crisis

The Supreme Court overturned previous abortion protections by its ruling on DABS, V. Jackson Women's Health Organization. This enabled states to restrict or ban abortion with pre-existing laws and new legislation. As of January 2023, a total ban or a ban past six weeks gestational age was in effect in 14 states; some state laws have no exemption for rape or incest. The American Academy of Family Physicians said this ruling criminalizes evidence-based medicine that threatens the patient-clinician relationship.
