The Effects of CCTA on Coronary Artery Disease Severity
In this observational trial of CCTA versus invasive coronary angeography in patients with non-SDL, a Q coronary syndrome, CCTA was essentially equivalent but not identical to invasive coronary angiography for assessment of long-term risk. There was more obstructive disease found with CCTA compared to invasive coronaryAngeography and this could lead to more downstream testing and interventions. The advantages of the invasive coronary Angeography include looking at coronary plaque morphology such as with intravascular ultrasound or optical coherence tomography. Plaque volume or high-risk plaque features all of which have prognostic implications that CCTA just simply cannot give us. And there you have it
