Will the Increasing Demand for New Vessels in the Future Kill the Market?

The current order book sits at around 30% of global fleet capacity which is an all-time high. Carriers have also taken this opportunity to invest in alternative fuel capabilities including nearly 50 methanol powered vessels and a large number of LNG powered vessels. It will be quite interesting to see how the market behaves once this new tonnage hits the water in earnest next year with really wide-ranging possibilities dependent on demand levels and upcoming carbon regulations among other factors.
