Geomagnetism and Bird Navigation Go Burr

Birds' geomagnetic navigation goes burr when magnetic fields are disturbed. Researchers found a correlation between birds captured far outside their average flight path and the normal geomagnetic disturbances that happened in the fall or spring. Solar activity didn't affect nocturnal birds, but it did affect birds that traveled by day.
