How do we understand ourselves if we know nothing about our history? But i also think it's very important for education to be rigorous. Science doesn't have to be killingly boring in the way that it's so often taught. Sciences is an adventure, just as exciting as learning poetry and music. These things are not at war with one another. They are part of one another. If we are only soft on ourselves and on our children, our civilization won't survive.
