The Evolution of Eugenics in America
The eugenics movement, which was really more than a movement, it was dominant science in the United States for a good part of the 20th century. It was both an ideology that the population could be improved through managed reproduction and policies like compelled sterilization. And so it then becomes a scientific excuse for policies that oppress impoverished people and that oppress the devalued racialized groups in America.
