So mindfulness isn't so much about the object that you're watching, it's the way that you're Watching. And by contrast, loveind kindness is in loving kindness practice,. You had rest your attention rather than on something like the feeling of the breath, you had rest it on  repetitions such as "may i be happy" to yourself and others.
