The Kingdom of Kerma
The people living in the north belonged to an entirely different cultural tradition and presumably ethnic group. They are known as the nubian sea group. While they're separate, they still interacted closely with kerma to the south. The kingdom of kerma held up along the borders of egypt for a full thousand years from 25 hundred b c to 15 hundred b c. Nubian soldiers served in egyptian armies in large numbers.
