China's Largest Forced Labor System

Amelia Pang: China has a huge network of labor camps. She says they were modeled on Soviet gulags when the Chinese Communist Party was gaining momentum. People can be put there for being Uighurs or feminists or dissidents, she says. They haven't been sentenced to anything, but they can disappear for years at a time during very intense and torturous manufacturing work.
