The MD 80 and MD 90 Have Their Engines at the Very Back of the Plane
The explosion was actually heard in the front section of the passenger cabin. The engines are at the back and explosions at the front probably wasn't something getting ingested to the engines. I think thinking about a bomb or something getting ingested into like the engine maybe, right? Like I mentioned earlier, the MD 80 and MD 90 have their engines at the very back of the plane.
