Richard Speck's mother called Nancy to ask of her son, her 29-year-old son, could stay with Nancy. When Richard would be sober for three or four days, he would be very kind, but once he started to drink, he could not stop. "Speck thought that he did not have to work or face consequences because he believed his mother would always give him money and take care of him," she said.
