John McLarenund's Command of the West
John McLarenund, commander of the western army, feels disrespected by Ulysses. John sends his men to gather about 100 miles west of Corinth in Memphis, Tennessee. William Tecumseh Sherman takes them and adds them to his own army. The plan is this: Comp will move down to Chickasaw Bayou and hit Vicksburg from its north while David Porter strikes the Mississippi River town with his gunboats. But Nathan Bedford Forrest and Earl Van Dornan's Confederate cavalry complicate things considerably.
