equity financing places no additional financial burden on the company. In order to gain funding, you will have to give those investors a percentage of your companies. You're giving away ownership and consult with your new partners anytime you make a decision affecting the company. The only way to remove these investors is to buy them out, which will be more expensive than the money they originally gave you.
