Is Coercion in Public Health a Good Thing?
I think generally, coercion is a poor tactic in public health. It breeds distrust and ultimately undermines itself in terms of effectiveness. I've had people write to me and tell me that they don't trust this vaccine. While they used to trust the childhood vaccines, which are really effective, they're not going now. And as a member of society, reaping all the benefits of being a member of Society, you have a responsibility to society.
