The task of the left right now is to find a way to marry these two together. The idea of communism isn't necessarily about any particular form of government yet, or any kind of specific social reform. When people invoke it, what they're doing is expressing dissatisfaction with the way things are right now and calling for a creative reimagining of the possibilities available to us in the future.
