The Importance of Legal Marijuana
In 1932 Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, a totalitarian government gives its citizens Soma. People are urged to take Soma whenever they feel any negative emotion and thus are kept docile. The Soma that Huxley imagined in 1932 writes the author bears a striking resemblance to a certain real world drug today, marijuana. We can see how critical the banning of mind altering drugs is to keeping a society free when we look back at Brave New World. And we see that the legalization of recreational marijuana across the United States is altering Americans vision of themselves and of the nation.
