How Does Fatalism Work as a Response to Entropy?
Freud and Libby Strauss were both working, you know, post discovery of the entropy law. And so they're actually borrowing from a lot of the ideas that were percolating. Freud says we have a deep psychic desire for quiescence; it's largely unacknowledged or unknown. The death drive is really this desire to return to the kind of homogenization and quiescence undifferentiated.
