Jeroboam, the King of Judah
Brent: In the Bible, a man named jeroboam becomes king to the north of Israel. He sets up two golden calves, one in the north and one in the south because he didn't want them influenced by those southern tribes. Brent says this is indicative of what they're struggling with; they are not trusting the story as the narrative tells it. They building their own empires relying on their own political logic or common sense. Sarcasm comes next week when we'll look at an ancient battle between God and his people called Elijah.
